Assistant Ombudsperson
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
- Typically one year of experience in conflict management, law, ethnic studies, social science, psychology, education, social work, public administration, healthcare, alternative dispute resolution, and/or human resources in higher education, or related field
- Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience with, and commitment to, maintaining confidentiality and integrity
- Demonstrated experience pursuing courses of action that may challenge persons in positions of authority
- Candidates must be recognized as good listeners and as informed, fair-minded problem-solvers
- The candidate must be willing to be an active member of the International Ombudsman Association and to participate in continued professional development
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Knowledge of University administration, diversity, structure, policies and procedures
- Successful completion of the IOA Foundations Course
- A minimum of 40 Hours of Basic Mediation Training
- Training in facilitation and/or conflict coaching
- Experience working in an Ombuds office
