Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Typically one year of experience in conflict management, law, ethnic studies, social science, psychology, education, social work, public administration, healthcare, alternative dispute resolution, and/or human resources in higher education, or related field
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with, and commitment to, maintaining confidentiality and integrity
  • Demonstrated experience pursuing courses of action that may challenge persons in positions of authority
  • Candidates must be recognized as good listeners and as informed, fair-minded problem-solvers
  • The candidate must be willing to be an active member of the International Ombudsman Association and to participate in continued professional development

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • Knowledge of University administration, diversity, structure, policies and procedures
  • Successful completion of the IOA Foundations Course
  • A minimum of 40 Hours of Basic Mediation Training
  • Training in facilitation and/or conflict coaching
  • Experience working in an Ombuds office
