The UI Heart and Vascular Center is seeking a full time (100%) Imaging Technologist to perform under limited supervision, operates digital angiography imaging equipment, physiologic recorder and analysis equipment. Performs scrub/circulating duties during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; facilitates handoff reporting while providing effective and efficient communication with patient/family and other customers of the lab.
Work Schedule:
- 4 - 10 hour Day shifts with Rotating day off (Monday - Friday)
- Night/Weekend/Holiday on-call assignment

Duties to Include:
- Operates angiography imaging
- Operates equipment used for hemodynamic monitoring and invasive procedural needs.
- Operates pressure injection systems for the delivery of contrast material to the patient as ordered by the provider.
- Prepares and operates cardiac support devices under the supervision and order of the provider.
- Daily lab/room checks as designated by the department.
- Performs general maintenance/cleaning and simple troubleshooting of all radiologic equipment and escalates repair of equipment when needed.
- Prepares for sterile procedures by performing sterile table set up and following sterile techniques.
- Performs circulating duties including patient care, basic and advanced cardiovascular life support, hemodynamic monitoring, and preparation of the procedure site.
- Provides instruction/orientation to trainees, students, and other hospital personnel on equipment operation, safety precautions, and procedures.
- Assists leadership and supply chain with inventory and supply needs.
- Maintains current knowledge of developments in radiologic technology and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, participation in professional organizations, and/or reading journals and publications.
- Follows general policies and procedures in accordance with regulations of the UI Health Care, the Department of Internal Medicine, and UI Heart and Vascular Center.
- Demonstrates acceptance of responsibility; pride in work performed; and flexibility in acceptance of assignments while consistently maintaining professional behavior and appearance.
- Required participation in night/weekend/holiday on-call assignment/coverage (arrival at UI Health Care within 30 minutes required).
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirement:
- Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Commission Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
Experience Requirements:
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while functioning in a multi-disciplinary team.
Certification/Licensure Requirements:
- Certification in American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and another radiologic related technological certification up to and including: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), or ARRT Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
- Permit to practice by the State of Iowa for all technologists operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required prior to start date.
Current BLS and ACLS certification(s) are required prior to start date.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Radiation Sciences.
- Previous imaging technologist experience in adult cardiac catheterization/Electrophysiology; OR completion of cardiovascular clinical internship within the last 12 mos.
- Technological certification up to and including: Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), Cardiac-Interventional Radiography (CI), or ARRT Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI).
- Previous EPIC experience.
- Knowledge of University policies, practices and procedures.
