University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Engineering Services, Plumbing Shop, is seeking a Facilities Mechanic III.

Job Duties:
  • Applies knowledge and skill at the journey level to install and repair pumps, piping, fixtures, appliances, laboratory equipment and apparatus related to gas, air, steam, water, drainage systems, and heating and cooling systems. 
  • Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the repairing, servicing, and maintaining of buildings and electrical, mechanical and plumbing equipment.

Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: 4:00 pm - 12:30 am, Monday-Friday
Location: University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
Merit Pay Plan: Pay Level 10 (https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/pay-plans/merit-alpha-matrix)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment
  • Must have four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training. At least two years of that experience must be in the same craft.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prefer State Licensed Plumber
  • Prefer computer skills (Access, Excel, and Word)
  • Prefer experience with large sewer rodders and experience with pro press fittings,  & soldering of large pipes.
