Position Summary:  This position will perform developmental and administrative activities (on- and off-campus) associated with the Community Service and Community-Based Medical Education Divisions of the Office of Statewide Clinical Education Programs (OSCEP) of the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine (UICCOM) for the benefit of Iowa physicians, practices and health care organizations.

Job Duties - 

·       

  • Collaborates with physicians and community organizations to facilitate OSCEP’s work to help Iowa communities recruit and retain physicians and advance practice providers.
  • Assists in the coordination of the annual collection and reporting of the demand for select physician specialties and non-physician providers.
  • Facilitates and supports activities related to UI-Affiliated Family Medicine Residency Network.  Acts as a program liaison with university faculty, staff, university-affiliated training centers and UI Regional Medical Education Centers.
  • Performs the administrative activities for the maintenance and management of the Iowa Residency Information System including but not limited to workflow processes, integrity audits and production, and the creation, verification and distribution of routine and statistical reports.
  • Serves as the editor for a quarterly newsletter by soliciting submissions, writing news items, creating and directing layout, managing mailing lists, and directing mailings.
  • Assists with project administration for medical liability insurance and LTD insurance plans in support of the UI-Affiliated Family Medicine Residency Network.
  • Assists in the development, distribution, and analysis of surveys of medical students, medical school graduates, residency graduates, Iowa physicians, health care organizations and community representatives.
  • Coordinates and participates in a contract review service for physicians and non-physician providers.
  • Facilitates the UI-Affiliated Residency Program Coordinators’ Interest Group.
  • Assists in the preparation and the routing of Memoranda Of Understanding (MOUs) regarding medical training activities of UICCOM affiliated trainees.
  • Plans and executes meetings and program events (professional development workshops, seminars, certification training sessions, etc), including scheduling, assembling and verifying guest lists, designing brochures, directing mailings, coordinating travel, staffing events, compiling evaluation data, and submitting CME documentation.
  • Assists with administration and coordination of the required UICCOM Community-Based Primary Care Clerkship.
  • Prepares and presents a wide variety of timely periodic and special reports and graphics using PowerPoint and Excel including reports presented to Program Directors of UI-affiliated residency training sites and Iowa communities.
  • Utilizes on-line survey tools and analyzes and creates reports from the results.
  • Edits and assists in writing articles and reports for publication and distribution.
  • Supervises the data collection work and activities of student employees and other assigned support staff.
  • Performs other additional projects and duties as assigned by supervisors.

 

Required Qualifications

·        A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·        Minimum of 1 year experience in health care administration or related health care program administration experience.

·        Knowledge of healthcare systems and organizations.

·        Knowledge of medical education training, e.g., undergraduate and graduate medical education.

·        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills showing excellent organization and attention to detail along with presentation experience.

·        Experience in communicating through correspondence and by telephone with professionals of all levels including health care professionals such as administrators, physicians, residents in training, and medical students.

·        Excellent oral presentation skills.

·        Current proficiency in Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

Desired Qualifications

·        A Master’s degree in health administration is preferred.

·        Knowledge of the methods used by healthcare systems and organizations in the recruitment of health care providers is preferred.

·        Experience with SQL databases and Qualtrics or similar on-line survey software experience is preferred.

·        Experience in planning and execution of events is preferred.

·        Experience with physician employment agreements is preferred.
