Position Summary:

The position of Associate Director, Des Moines EMBA Program is responsible for operating and expanding Tippie’s Executive MBA (EMBA) program in Des Moines. This individual will be involved in all program aspects including: student recruitment; student satisfaction and outcomes; building and managing relationships with alumni, corporate partners and stakeholders; financial budgeting and oversight; working with faculty on curriculum enhancements; strategic planning and analysis; event planning and logistics, and staff management. 

This position requires a combination of business development, relationship management, operations/administration and logistics skills. This position is based in Des Moines. The Associate Director will travel to the Iowa City campus regularly; more frequently at the start of the position for training and teaming.

The Associate Director will be involved in state and regional development with a particular focus on student recruitment and organizational relationship development in central Iowa and westward. A successful candidate will be a positive, dynamic self-starter; flexible to adapt to unexpected change; and be able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment. This individual must be comfortable interacting with stakeholders of all organizational levels, including C-suite, and enjoy meeting people and networking. It involves some travel, mostly within Iowa, during the school year and peak recruiting times. Some evening and weekend time is also required, including supporting the Des Moines EMBA cohort every other Friday/Saturday during the academic year. Some weekday schedule flexibility is available to accommodate evening/weekend work.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically 3-5 years working in a role representing an organization to potential customers and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated extensive interpersonal skills to develop and enhance professional relationships with alumni, faculty, corporations/organizations, government entities, colleagues and potential partners throughout the business community and various University schools and departments.
  • Extensive oral and written communication skills - ability to communicate effectively at executive-levels
  • Proven sales, business development, recruiting (or equivalent) skills
  • Working knowledge of planning and managing budgets
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet and maintain UI Fleet Safety driving requirements.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience managing an organization or unit with multiple constituents and a global perspective
  • Experience working in an accredited MBA program
  • Experience in executive-level recruiting
  • Experience in multiple areas of business
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, particularly Salesforce
  • Familiarity with the business community in the greater Des Moines area
