Required Qualifications

  • A graduate degree from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent international degree; or in archival studies; or in a related field with a focus on archival studies.
  • Training in, or demonstrated knowledge of, archival theory and practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national metadata content and structure standards for archival materials, such as DACS and EAD.
  • Understanding of extensible processing practices and ability to apply processing levels and use minimal processing techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment where consultation, flexibility, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity in the workplace, academic setting, or community.


Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of professional experience.
  • Experience arranging and describing archival collections.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the collection management system ArchivesSpace.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metadata and description resources, such as Library of Congress Subject Headings, AAT: Art & Architecture Thesaurus, the Homosaurus, Metadata Best Practices for Trans and Gender Diverse Resources, and Anti-Racist Description Resources (Archives for Black Lives in Philadelphia Anti-Racist Description Working Group).

The hiring salary range for this Specialist Librarian position is $52,500 - $64,000

Successful candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and degree verification. References will be requested from candidates at a later point in the interview process.
