Administrative Services Coordinator - Department of Anthropology
The Department of Anthropology is seeking an Administrative Services Coordinator.
This position supports the daily operations in the Department of Anthropology and Global Health Studies Program by providing operational support to faculty, staff, and students; serves as the primary contact directing and responding to inquiries from faculty, staff, students, and the public, coordinates department activities and events; provides administrative support as needed, prepares academic course scheduling; and is instrumental in collecting and updating departmental information for the department website.
This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
Position is 100% onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Primary contact for providing general departmental information and responding to inquiries.
- Provides support to faculty, staff, and students in meeting deadlines.
- Provides support for departmental activities and events.
- Monitors graduate admissions; responds to inquiries from applicants; assists the Director of Graduate Studies with all aspects of the application and admission process.
- Updates and gathers information on department website and monitors information for accuracy in collaboration with faculty coordinator, or independently; gathers data on awards, events, and recognitions of department faculty, students, alumni, and staff.

Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- 6-12 months of experience executing administrative duties in an office setting.
- Demonstrated careful attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and effectively, proactively establish priorities and meet deadlines, and solve problems independently and creatively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and participate as a member of a team environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated working competency using Microsoft Office Programs, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to adjust and develop self to prepare for new or changing assignments, processes, people, or priorities as organizational needs dictate at a working proficiency level.
- Experience with collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Experience in an academic, administrative office setting.
- Working knowledge of University of Iowa systems, such as workflow and MAUI.
