The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking an Administrative Services Manager for the Department of Cinematic Arts. This position will plan, organize, and lead the administrative operations for the Department of Cinematic Arts within the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Key responsibilities include budget management and analysis, accounting, facilities, and providing academic support. These functions require an understanding of University policies and operations, and the ability to continuously implement and optimize new systems. Strong oral and written communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with various campus units. Strategic planning skills are essential for success in this role. 



Key Responsibilities

  • Manage work processes/administrative procedures and policies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of unit operations for the Department of Cinematic Arts. 
  • Coordinate and support all administrative aspects of three graduate programs (MA, MFA, PhD), including admissions, student progress tracking, etc. 
  • Oversee graduate assistant (TA/RA) budget and assignment process. 
  • In conjunction with HR representative, interpret and implement human resources policies and procedures for faculty, staff, and graduate students. 
  • Manage financial data and information for the department. Assist in budget development and provide projections and fiscal recommendations. 
  • Together with DEO, develop, implement, and evaluate strategic plan for the Department of Cinematic Arts. Collaborate on faculty and program related planning efforts. 
  • Reviews, resolves and responds to requests for information, data, services, complaints, etc. 
  • Facilitate communication between the department and the Dean’s Office as well as other administrative offices on campus. Communicate with staff, faculty, and graduate students in both departments.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational skills, showing the ability to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, and the ability to meet tight deadlines in situations both complex and sensitive in nature. 
  • Demonstrates extensive experience in application of policies, accounting practices and tools to develop and administer a complex budget that includes multiple funding sources. 
  • Demonstrates extensive experience in leading, motivating, evaluating, and rewarding personnel, including supervision. 
  • Demonstrates extensive knowledge and ability to utilize tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and students.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrative units to support departmental needs. 
  • Demonstrates working experience in computer software applications, including experience with electronic processing of transactions. 



Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working in an academic setting. 
  • Experience with continuous process improvement. 
  • Demonstrates working experience in managing physical facilities, including planning and maintenance.
