Education Requirements

·        Master’s degree.  Master’s degree in nursing preferred.  If Master’s is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. 

·        Current Iowa nursing license and current Iowa ARNP license by time of hire.

·        ARNP certification in specialty area of Pediatrics, Family or Psychiatric Mental Health by time of hire.   

 

Experience Requirements

·        Demonstrated experience in pediatrics. 

·        Minimum of five years of experience as an ARNP.

·        Demonstrated ability to effectively manage the care of children and young adults with special health care needs (including developmental disabilities, behavioral concerns and serious emotional disorders).

·        Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

·        Proven capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while also working effectively in a team setting.

·        Ability to travel between clinic locations on a regular basis.  Requires valid driver’s license plus the ability to meet and maintain the University of Iowa Fleet Safety standards. 

·        Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.

Desired Qualifications

·        Previous ARNP/Nursing experience working with children and young adults with special health care needs (including developmental disabilities, behavioral concerns or serious emotional disorders) is highly desirable.

·        Experience in developing and implementing pediatric care plans and providing care coordination, preferably working with children with special health care needs and their families.

·        Experience working with public health programs, preferably programs serving children with special health care needs. 

·        Experience in public speaking and community outreach.

·        Management and supervisory experience.

Knowledge of University of Iowa and University of Iowa Healthcare policies and procedures.
