Required
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
Experience
Requirements
- 3 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency with at least one modern (object oriented)
programming language (preferably PHP and C#)
- Proficiency with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and SQL
(preferably MySQL)
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Strong development and problem
solving skills
- Exceptional ability to
communicate highly technical concepts to any audience
- Experience with all
aspects of the lifecycle of a web application; wireframing, design,
frontend and backend
- Understanding of web standards, web accessibility best
practices
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such
as git/mercurial/svn (we use git)
Desirable
Qualifications
- An advanced degree in a related field
- Strong design aesthetic and good understanding of best
practices in digital typography and layout
- Experience working with Drupal (preferably versions 7
and 8)
- Experience working with WordPress
- Experience with CSS pre-processors
- Experience with usability testing
- Good understanding of SEO principles
- Knowledge of web analytics tools (ex. Google Analytics,
Webmaster Tools, Site Search, etc.)
- Familiarity with web accessibility standards including
WCAG 2.0 and WAI-ARIA
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud particularly
Photoshop
- Basic knowledge of Linux administration
- Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures
