Assistant Dean, Leadership & Engagement
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Higher Education / Student Development, social work, counseling, psychology, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Progressive leadership experience (typically a minimum of 7 years) in an administrative role, including supervision of staff, directing daily operations of a unit, department, or program, representing the interests of an organization, and managing accountability.
- Demonstrated experience working in higher education, specifically with responsibility regarding student organizations, engagement, fraternity and sorority life, or responding to student concerns.
- Knowledge and application of communication techniques (written and verbal) and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Must be proficient in computer software applications including database management, such as cloud-based management tools.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and highly sensitive and confidential information in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Work experience in public speaking, delivery of educational training, and/or teaching.
- Experience with strategic planning and budget oversight.
- Experience working with and responding to student crisis situations, student activism and protests, and/or campus safety matters.
- Knowledge of college and university environment, including college student development, crisis management, and student support.
- Prior experience serving as an institutional leader at the assistant dean level or higher at a college or university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and other platforms in connecting with college students.
