The University of Iowa College of Law is seeking an Assistant Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid who will be responsible for strategic leadership and operational oversight for all aspects of admissions and financial aid. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies to recruit an academically talented student body, managing the admissions process, and overseeing the administration of scholarships and financial aid programs.

Job Duties and Tasks

  • Oversee the overall operation of the Office of Admissions and Financial aid within broad institutional guidelines.
  • Serve as a top-level/Senior Administrator for Iowa’s College of Law for admissions and financial aid.
  • Lead the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid team including hiring, supervising, assigning and reviewing tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Oversee and responsibly manage the scholarship budget.
  • Establish criteria for awarding specific scholarship awards and amounts and establish scholarship tiers for specific award amounts.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate the strategic plan for Iowa’s College of Law for admissions and financial aid, including strategies related to applicant recruitment, application evaluation, admission and financial aid decisions, and yield efforts.
  • Identify strategic partnership opportunities and develop strategic relationships with leadership teams, colleagues, peer institutions, and campus partners.
  • Manage the customer relationship management (CRM) platform for the Admissions process.
  • Provide information and advice to new students and parents about university life to ease their transition to the University of Iowa.
  • Assist with planning and implementing the orientation program.
  • Develop and implement practices that support staff engagement in the workplace.
  • Prepare and manage budget, advising the Dean on budgetary needs or discrepancies.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in admissions.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in admissions, enrollment management, or relevant professional experience in an institute of higher education.
  • Demonstrated experience providing strong leadership and articulating a strategic vision for enrollment.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively leading, supervising, and developing staff.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong data analysis and presentation skills to inform admissions decisions and scholarship allocation.
  • Knowledge of financial aid systems and regulations, including loan programs and scholarship management. 
  • Commitment to promoting a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
