Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 1-3 years) working in higher education in advising, developing, coordinating and evaluating student life and campus activities programming.
  • Demonstrated commitment to multiculturalism and experience working with students of color and other historically underrepresented students.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and application of oral and written communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to clearly communicate and work with a variety of individual and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekend.
  • Ability to apply the organization’s performance management system, policies, practices, and tools to develop and improve individual, team, and organizational performance.
  • Extensive experience in event management processes and activities, with the ability to plan, organize, and execute large student life or other medium- to large-scale events and to coordinate resources before, during, and after an event.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Student Development, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget and expense management.
  • Basic knowledge of organizational practices or strategies for communicating or marketing to establish favorable public relations.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of nonprofit and/or peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Demonstrated experience (typically 3-5 years) working in higher education in advising, developing, coordinating, and evaluating student life and campus activities programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and build healthy working relationships and partnerships with community partners; preferably within the greater Iowa City community. 
  • Working knowledge of processes, methods, and tools for creating and maintaining accurate and thorough financial reports.
  • Extensive leadership experience within a student organization; preferably within Dance Marathon.
