Assistant Director, Division of Student Life Human Resources
Required Qualifications:
- A master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current experience (typically 3-5 years) managing a variety of Human Resources functions, including employee relations and conducting investigations, in an HR role within a large, complex organization.
- Current experience (typically 3-5 years) providing strategic leadership & development support to an organization as an HR business partner.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Superior interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while creating, promoting, and sustaining an inclusive environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify the root cause of organizational challenges and develop resolutions that align with the department's best interests.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of current federal and state HR laws, regulations, policies, and directives.
- Proficient with computer software applications including Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and HR Information Systems.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience providing HR support in a college or university environment.
- Previous supervisory experience.
- Experience in developing and delivering employee and supervisory training programs or managing onboarding processes.
- Experience analyzing and using HR data to inform decisions and guide others.
- Experience with interpreting & applying University of Iowa (UI) policies and procedures.
- Professional HR certification, such as PHR (Professional in Human Resources), SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional), or senior-level certifications like SPHR or SHRM-SCP.
