Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  •  Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in higher education within a student success, retention, or student learning support capacity.
  • Reasonable experience with building positive, productive, and collaborative working relationships with a variety of constituents including but not limited to various internal/external stakeholders, campus partners, faculty, staff, and students.
  • Experience teaching or supporting undergraduate students in their learning.
  • Some evening and weekend hours may be required.

Competencies Required:

Demonstrates an extensive proficiency level in:

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply various communications techniques to accommodate a variety of audiences and balance multiple perspectives, including effective listening skills.
  • Ability to contribute as a member of multiple teams while respecting the unique contributions of individuals from varied identities and backgrounds. 

Demonstrates a working proficiency level in:

  • Knowledge of the operation and application of computer-based academic support systems that support academic activities (preferably electronic retention/student success tools and student information systems).
  • Techniques and tools that promote effective analysis and the ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve the problems in the best interest of the institution. 
  • Ability to use analytical and research skills to analyze college student retention and success trends.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in higher education, student development, teaching, education, psychology, or a related field is highly desired.
  • Reasonable (3-5 years) experience with student retention approaches, principles, and theories that strengthen student learning.
  • Reasonable (1-3 years) experience with student supervision.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of and ability to utilize tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data (project assessment) in a particular department or division of a company.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and awareness of and insight into the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to various situations.

Work Modality: This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.

Compensation: $53,000 – 59,400 with Competitive Benefits
