Assistant Director of Aquatics
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Aquatics serves as a valued member of the Recreational Services team, assisting with the operations, programming, and administration for the Aquatics team. As a team, Aquatics supports the Iowa Athletic Women’s Swimming & Diving team and the Iowa Flyers Swim Club. Additionally, Aquatics partners with numerous state level associations and collegiate conferences in hosting premier events in the Midwest.
Responsibilities will include program development and implementation, special event programming, program scheduling, and revenue generation. The Assistant Director is responsible for budget progress, policy enforcement, and the oversight of professional and/or part-time staff with an emphasis on staff development and interpersonal growth.

Education:
Master’s degree in related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- A master's degree in related field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience is necessary.
- Related Experience (typically a minimum of 3 years).
- Demonstrated experience (typically 1 - 3 years) managing a team within an aquatics department.
- Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI), or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining a welcoming and respectful environment.
- Consistently delivers work with high attention to detail and precision, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Proficiency in utilizing standard office computer software applications.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience (typically 1 or more years) within a collegiate or university aquatics program.
- Demonstrated experience (typically 1-3 years) managing of swim lesson program.
- Demonstrated experience (typically 1 or more years) instructing American Red Cross Certification Courses.
- Current certifications in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard Instructor Trainer or Water Safety Instructor Trainer.
- Current Certified Pool Operator or Aquatic Facility Operator certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
