Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, environmental education, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Current Master Class Falconry Permit, with the ability to obtain and maintain a State of Iowa issued Master Class Falconry Permit as a condition of continued employment.
  • Experience (typically a minimum of 3 years) providing husbandry care for raptors, developing and overseeing avian research projects, and/or conducting educational and instructional programming with raptors.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge and application of verbal and written communication techniques and relationships building skills, with the ability to clearly communication and work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals.
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree or higher in raptor biology, environmental science, environmental education, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with state and federal Education and/or bird-banding permits, and/or with an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
  • Working knowledge of assessment methods and activities with the ability to assess research and instructional programs and review learning outcomes to ensure achievement of objectives and strategies.
  • Working knowledge of applying policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.
  • Experience working with and recruiting university and/or college students for raptor-related activities.
