The Sport and Recreation Management (SRM) program in the Department of Health and Human Physiology is seeking a Assistant Director of SRM Field Experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, assess, coordinate, and publicize internship and other experiential learning opportunities.
  • Meet with and advise students who are searching and applying for internships.
  • Register students in field experience course sections.
  • Inform students about guided field experience options and coordinate with instructors on field experience supervision.
  • Network with current and prospective SRM industry partners to develop and maintain relationships with sport and recreation industry professionals to support all forms of experiential learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with faculty, including providing logistical and operational support for faculty-developed experiential learning and professional development opportunities; coordinate and provide support for initiatives at various stages of development and execution.
  • May develop and manage budgets as needed.
  • May provide coaching and career counseling to students as needed.

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Required Qualifications

  • One to three years of administrative, supervisory, and/or program management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate across a variety of media and target different audiences.
  • Proficiency in standard office software applications (e.g., Office 365).

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Sport and Recreation management or related field.
  • Experience working in the area of recruitment, internships and placement, and/or experience managing affiliation agreements with external entities.
  • Experience in public speaking and/or teaching.
  • Familiarity with university policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with students, interns, or other early-career professionals.
