Assistant Nurse Manager - ASC OR - 100%
University of Iowa Health Care is excited to offer an opportunity for a nurse leader to join our team. We are looking for a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for the Ambulatory Surgery Center Operating Room team. The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide both managerial and clinical leadership, ensuring that all staff deliver safe clinical care and have the necessary education, methods, and resources to meet their performance goals.
Interface with administrative and clinical nursing staff to provide clinical leadership in improving and maintaining the delivery of care processes for the ASC and to assume delegated responsibility for the implementation of daily operations for the ASC.

Position Responsibilities
- Assume delegated responsibility in managing the day-to-day clinical operations of the ASC.
- Clinical expert in Perioperative nursing.
- Understand and support the mission of the organization.
- Promote a collaborative, team-oriented environment that unites nurses, physicians, and support staff into a dynamic work unit.
- Serve as a champion for process improvements.
- Provide clear, succinct, and reliable communication between management and ASC Staff.
- Continuously assess and actively monitor patient care resources.
- Participate in financial planning and management activities.
- Assist in developing, implementing and evaluation of ASC Quality Management programs.
- Promote the adoption of Evidence Based Practices to improve clinical practice.
- Engage in appropriate continuous learning, including curricula focused upon development of leadership and management skills.
- Demonstrate excellent conflict management skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations appropriately.
Percent of time: 100%
Schedule: Day shifts - Monday through Friday, no holidays or weekends.
Education Requirements:
- A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
- Current License to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire.
Experience Requirements
- 1+ years of nursing experience with demonstrated skills in leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
- Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments.
- Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective strategies for working with faculty, staff, and students from variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Certification in specialty (CNOR) desired or completion within 2 years is required.
- Current ACLS certification desired or completion within 6 months of employment is required.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in a large academic medical center.
- Experience in a union environment.
