Assistant Nurse Manager - DeGowin Blood Center
The Department of Pathology is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to be responsible for supervision of DeGowin Blood Center Patient Services unit, including operations, personnel management, patient and staff scheduling, standard operating procedures and regulatory compliance. This position is 100% time, primarily 8-hour shifts between the hours of 0600–1630.
Duties to include:
· Collaborates with patient scheduling staff and with the Nursing Manager and medical director/faculty to schedule, plan and coordinate patient appointment schedules to meet the needs of the patients and referring services.
· Develops and implements training, re-training and education of staff to assure training and competency of staff are verified and documented in an appropriate and timely manner.
· Serves as a resource for referring services. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with medical and nursing leadership from other clinical service areas to develops, coordinate, and implement care delivery for inpatients and outpatients requiring services from the DeGowin Blood Center.
· Performs patient care activities as directed, consistently following established policies and procedures.
· Maintains compliance with FDA, AABB, CAP, FACT, JC and NMDP standards.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements
· Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
· Current license to practice nursing in Iowa.
· 3+ years nursing experience.
· Must be proficient in computer software applications.
· Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
· Demonstrated leadership abilities and skills shown by successfully leading teams/groups in projects, ability to work independently, to perform multiple tasks simultaneously is required.
Desirable Qualifications
· Experience working in an academic health care center is highly desired.
· 1-3 years clinical apheresis experience is highly desired.
· Knowledge of FDA, AABB, College of American Pathologists (CAP), Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) and National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) standards is highly desired.
· Experience using highly specialized medical equipment is highly desired.
