University of Iowa Health Care presents an opportunity for an emerging nurse leader to join our team as an Assistant Nurse Manager. The Assistant Nurse Manager- Hybrid supporting Preop, Phase 1 & Phase 2 recovery, manages direct patient care nursing functions to ensure quality care, efficient operations, ongoing staff education all partner toward organizational goals. Positions in this job family will have direct patient care responsibilities.

Pay Grade: 5A
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday - Friday primary between the hours of 1200-2030. Some flexibility with hours may be optional. Additional flexibility to meet management objectives may be required.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
  • One to three years of progressing leadership responsibilities
  • One to three years PACU, Prep/Recovery in OR, or procedural setting RN experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with computer software applications. skill in leadership/management
  • Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so
  • Professional nursing certification within one year of employment relevant to position. 

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Leadership and/or manager experience
  • Experience working in large academic medical center
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Master's degree in a healthcare related field
