University of Iowa Health Care is excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced nurse leader to join our team. We are seeking a full-time Assistant Nurse Manager for Main Operating Room Team 9. The Assistant Nurse Manager will provide both managerial and clinical leadership to ensure that all staff deliver safe clinical care and have the necessary education, methods, and resources to meet their performance objectives. Additionally, this role includes managing the nursing assistant and weekend option team.

Details:

Pay Grade: 5A 

Percent of Time: 100%

Schedule: Hours determined by department needs, with possible rotating shifts, holiday, and weekend coverage

Location: University Campus

Rotations: Rotating shifts Monday - Friday, weekends, holidays, on-call as needed. One-week administrative call 2-3 times/year

Required Qualifications:

  • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
  • One to three years of progressing leadership responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with computer software applications. skill in leadership/management
  • Demonstrates time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, and other hospital departments
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
  • One to three years scrubbing and circulating experience in the Operating Room
  • Professional certification in nursing field (example: CNOR) required as soon as able to sit for the exam

 

Desired Qualifications:

  •  Leadership and/or manager experience
  • Experience working in large academic medical center
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.
