Education Requirement

  • BS in Engineering (chemical, mechanical, electrical, etc.). 

 

Experience Required

  • 0-1 year of experience in or basic knowledge of any one of the following:
    • Engineering principles and methods in utilities review, consumption, sizing of equipment, etc. 
    • Clean rooms and environmental monitoring.
    • Pharmaceutical regulations, Food and Drug Administration, current Good Manufacturing Practice, International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering European Union, etc. 
    • Qualification and operation of automated enclosures, isolators, or laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to perform effectively in multi-disciplinary teams in a diverse environment.
  • Intermediate skills in creating and editing documents in MS Excel and Word or comparable programs.  
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing including technical writing skills, to a variety of constituents internal and external to the organization.
  • Must have valid driver's license and be able to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Management Driver’s safety requirements, plus the ability to meet and maintain compliance with the University Driving Policy. 

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical, manufacturing, engineering, quality project related experiences. 
  • Sterile facility start-up experience including validation cycles and cleaning validation of systems. 
  • Experience with process mapping and/or project management.
  • Understanding of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing (6S) methodology.
  • Experience operating under design control and current Good Manufacturing Practice manufacturing.
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition, Metasys, or Johnson Control International systems in heavy industries and pharmaceutical. 
  • Microbiology and environmental monitoring experience.
  • Experience with calibration and metrology of instruments such as temperature and pressure transmitters.
