Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires a PhD in radiation physics, radiation biology, radiation chemistry, cancer biology, biochemistry. 
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience in radiation biology or related field. 
  • Strong working knowledge of in vitro and in vivo experimental procedures.
  • Strong working knowledge of radiation delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of flow cytometry analysis including FlowJo.
  • Strong working knowledge of western blotting and equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of spectrophotometer-based assays.
  • Proficiency in cell culture techniques in isolating and culturing normal and cancer cell lines.
  • Strong working knowledge of in vivo assays and cancer-specific endpoints.
  • Strong organization skills required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills required as well as written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Graph pad Prism, Adobe illustrator, Photoshop, ImageJ as well as working knowledge of email, word processing, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data for confocal microscopy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5 years relevant experience in radiation and/or cancer biology or related field.
  • Strong working knowledge of radiation delivery techniques.
  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo analysis of iron.
  • Experience with in vitro and in vivo analysis of redox biological enzymes (e.g., nadph oxidases).
  • Animal handling experience.
  • Knowledge of University of Iowa Policies and Procedures.
