Associate Director, Design & Construction
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional experience (typically 7-9 years or more) with increasing responsibilities in institutional design and/or construction of major projects.
- Successful candidates will have experience in project management, leading project managers and leadership experience.
- Must demonstrate leadership ability and senior level planning skills with a good working knowledge of project management and sound building practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in computer software applications.
- Familiarity with construction site safety guidelines.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
Superior interpersonal skills with professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work/academic
environment where people of all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated; or demonstrated the ability to do so.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification or similar credential, indicating a strong foundation in project management methodologies and standards.
- 7-9 years’ experience in construction management or construction supervision on a university campus.
- Supervision of professionals, preferably on a university campus.
- Extensive knowledge of facilities management and total-cost-of ownership principles.
- Expert/Leader level experience with project management software, commissioning processes, laboratory or MEPT capital improvement projects and/or state building inspection procedures.
- Extensive experience preparing and monitoring departmental budget enterprise financial model.
- Expert/Leader level of knowledge with health care and research on a university campus.
- Demonstrated skills and abilities to negotiate optimal and acceptable outcomes among competing opinions and interest.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clarity and direction to complex and ambiguous problems and challenges.
- Experience in a client-focused, team-oriented environment.
