Associate Director, Office of Undergraduate Research
Qualifications:
Education or Equivalency Required
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Reasonable (typically 1-3 years) administrative, supervisory, and program experience is required.
· Demonstrate excellent communication skills for writing and oral presentations aimed at broad audiences.
· Experience working with college students.
· Must be proficient in computer software applications, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently while also being a strong collaborator.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the confidence, sensibility, and discretion to work diplomatically and effectively with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and students.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
· Master's degree.
Desirable Qualifications
· Terminal degree.
· Participated in undergraduate research/creative scholarship.
· Experience mentoring in higher education.
· Training and ability to direct educational activities for students connected to center programs.

Instructions for the writing sample are as follows: Please compose a professional email, inviting the University of Iowa Vice President for Research, to be a keynote speaker for the Undergraduate Research Conference. For context, past speakers for this conference have discussed their undergraduate involvement, what undergraduates bring to a research rich institution, like the University of Iowa, or how research impacts people. The keynote is scheduled to begin at 9:30 am, and last for half an hour. Keep in mind that your audience will be college undergraduate students, with some or no research experience.
