Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Human Genetics or Genetic Counseling.
  • Genetic Counseling clinical rotations or internship experience; or 6 months to 1 year of experience in the field of genetic counseling is required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in genetic counseling from the American Board of Genetic Counseling is required.
  • Current licensure or eligible to be licensed as a Genetic Counselor in state of Iowa is required.
  • Proficient in computer software applications (Office Suite)
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel; some overnight stays required
 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License with the ability to meet and maintain The University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard.
  • Ability to travel; some overnight stays required
  • Demonstrated experience with developing educational materials
  • Demonstrated experience with teaching health related topics to the general public and to health care professionals
  • Demonstrated experience participating in quality improvement activities
  • Demonstrated time management and ability to prioritize projects/tasks
