Asst Research Scientist - Microbiology
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in virology, immunology, molecular biology or related field
- A minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in advanced studies of virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunology
- Progressively responsible independent research experience in virology, immunology, and molecular biology
- Extensive proficiency with each of the following:
- Molecular biology, including PCR, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and advanced techniques to evaluate gene expression and transcriptional profiles of immune cells
- Virological assays including viral infection assays, generating and titrating viral stocks
- Western blotting
- Flow cytometry and immunostaining
- Working experience with each of the following:
- Isolation of primary CD4 T-cells or CD14 monocytes from the blood cells
- Cell culture (cell lines and primary cells)
- Retroviral transduction and lentiviral infection
- Immunofluorescence or confocal microscopy
Desirable Qualifications:
- Working experience with each of the following:
- Experience in basic HIV research
- Electron microscopy
- Recombinant protein purification
- Working experience with big data sets generated during the course of virology and immunology experiments
- Basic bioinformatics including the use of online database and resources
- Analysis of RNAseq data
- RNA biology
