Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in virology, immunology, molecular biology or related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral research experience in advanced studies of virology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunology
  • Progressively responsible independent research experience in virology, immunology, and molecular biology
  • Extensive proficiency with each of the following:
    • Molecular biology, including PCR, cloning, site-directed mutagenesis, and advanced techniques to evaluate gene expression and transcriptional profiles of immune cells
    • Virological assays including viral infection assays, generating and titrating viral stocks
    • Western blotting
    • Flow cytometry and immunostaining
  • Working experience with each of the following:
    • Isolation of primary CD4 T-cells or CD14 monocytes from the blood cells
    • Cell culture (cell lines and primary cells)
    • Retroviral transduction and lentiviral infection
    • Immunofluorescence or confocal microscopy

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Working experience with each of the following:
    • Experience in basic HIV research
    • Electron microscopy
    • Recombinant protein purification
  • Working experience with big data sets generated during the course of virology and immunology experiments
    • Basic bioinformatics including the use of online database and resources
    • Analysis of RNAseq data
    • RNA biology
