Provides psychological services to assist a varied student body in attaining their educational, interpersonal, and academic goals. Psychological services include individual assessment/counseling; clinical crisis services; group counseling; psycho-educational outreach programming/consultation to students, staff, faculty, administrators, and parents/families; supervision/training of mental health graduate students; and commitment to promoting a welcoming & respectful environment within marginalized communities. This position consults with campus units to conduct needs assessments; Manages/facilitates all facets of outreach & prevention programming/services for University Counseling Service (UCS); Develops policy/procedures for implementation; Facilitates internal evaluation of services/program metrics/outcomes; Participates in ongoing team management of all facets of operations; Develops/maintains partnerships & collaborations with university constituents; Serves on UCS senior leadership team as Associate Director of Outreach and Prevention; and Provides administrative supervision for some UCS staff.

Specific responsibilities include:

•    Provision of Clinical Services & Programs: (Make assessment/diagnosis, develop treatment plan, provide therapeutic intervention, participate in outcome evaluation for clinical services; Provide consultant on duty services to students; Write/maintain electronic records of services delivered; Perform case management, including student referrals; Provide evaluative processes for thorough assessment of services provided by Outreach; Develop data for internal/external reporting.)

•    Educational/Professional Training: (Provide relevant training seminars; Apply advanced knowledge/expertise across disciplines to supervise/train staff/trainees; Facilitate staff/trainee participation in outreach & prevention service provision; Develop continuing education opportunities for staff/trainees; Collaborate with other university offices on shared training programs for campus constituencies; Provide clinical supervision of trainees; Participate in relevant local/national organizations; Facilitate Outreach Services Workgroup; Engage in continuing education to maintain credentials & licenses.)

•    Consultation: (Provide formal consultation/assistance to units/academic departments/individuals regarding clinical service systems, emergency services, & preventive services; Provide consultation on various and underserved client populations to campus communities.)

•    Administrative: (Oversee standards/rules/regulations to assure compliance with APA Ethical Standards/state practice laws/standards of practice/applicable federal & state privacy laws; Lead quality assurance activities for clinical services; Convene the Outreach & Prevention Workgroup regularly to effectively manage services; Facilitate staff discussion on organizational clinical needs/service provision; Develop policies/procedures for implementation of clinical services; Respond timely to data requests for internal/external reporting; Develop communication plan regarding services/programs; provide Director with comprehensive review of annual outreach & prevention service activities; Assist with participation in national evaluation/database development efforts; Calculate staff direct service/contracting hours; Facilitate staff/workgroup/special project meetings.)

•    Human Resources Management: (Provide all facets of direct administrative supervision to assigned staff therapists [social workers/mental health counselors/psychologists]; Uphold institutional/local unit policies/procedures to support consistent delivery of clinical services. May make agency decisions in absence of Director. In collaboration with other UCS leadership, oversee daily operations of UCS locations.)  

 

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. A hybrid work schedule is permitted contingent upon student demand for in-person appointments. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. 
 

Position Requirements:

 

EITHER

·         Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, or closely related field (must be from an APA-Accredited program); or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

·         Valid Psychologist Licensure in the State of Iowa

OR

·         Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field (must be from an accredited program specific to area of study), or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

·         Valid LMHC or LISW Licensure in the State of Iowa

 

AND

 

·         Minimum 36 months (3 years) of relevant post-degree experience

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge of evidence-based clinical services and procedures (including the ability to assess, manage, and ensure high quality clinical service provision) in individual, couples, and group settings.

·         Demonstrated knowledge of assessment & research methods and activities (including assessment of student learning outcomes/satisfaction metrics), and development/implementation of systems to improve service delivery.

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge of and ability to manage a complex and fluid service system.

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in planning, developing, and delivering educational and outreach programming, and consulting services with constituencies.

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in providing administrative supervision and personnel management.

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge of training and development processes, including tools and techniques to develop clinical skills of students, trainees, and staff.

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience in preparing data reports and engaging in data-driven decision making

·         Demonstrated extensive knowledge and experience with crisis management and hospitalization.

·         Demonstrated expert knowledge and experience with legal and ethical decision making.

·         Demonstrated expert knowledge and application of the communication techniques and relationship building skills that develop the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

·         Demonstrated extensive proficiency in the ability to collaborate and interact with individuals and groups while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied backgrounds. 

·         Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working with various populations.

·         Demonstrated proficiency in office support tools available and electronic medical records software (e.g., word processing, e-mail, presentation software, and spreadsheets); preferably Microsoft Office and Titanium.
