Education Required
A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ in sustained recovery from a substance use disorder.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and self-directed, and able to work with a diverse population.
  • Experience and/or willingness to learn and apply harm reduction principles to substance use.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include both verbal and written communications.
  • Must be proficient in computer software applications and demonstrate an effective ability to communicate with the team and project partners through email.
  • Previous experience of discussing substance use and substance use disorders with clients or the public.
  • Experience with public speaking in an inclusive, team-oriented environment. 
  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards. 

 

Desirable Qualifications

  • Completion of peer recovery support specialist certification.
  • Experience with alcohol-related liver disease, HIV, and/or hepatitis C infections.
  • Experience providing peer recovery support services to people with substance use disorders.
  • Previous experience facilitating interagency work groups and/or experience working across diverse programs and systems to make policy change. 
  • Knowledge of University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of recovery resources in the Johnson, Benton, Clinton, Jackson, Jones, and Linn County areas.
