Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or international equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • Minimum of one year working knowledge and experience with one or more of the various trade fields encountered in the position (e.g., carpentry, painting, metal fabrication, small engine/electrical repair, etc.);
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Policy standards and transport large trailers of equipment safely and efficiently
  • Working knowledge of and ability to:
    • Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
    • Communicate effectively (written and oral)
    • Work constructively and collaboratively within a diverse environment, including vendors, event managers, customers, donors, fans, etc.
    • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to a highly flexible work schedule that includes daily team practices and travel to 10-15 away competitions annually
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 100 pounds and ability to navigate on uneven surfaces to safely move between all water vessels and docks

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program
  • Experience with/knowledge of the sport of Rowing is highly desirable
  • Experience with welding and composite (e.g., fiberglass, carbon fiber) fabrication and repair of rowing shells is highly desirable.  Experience in the field of auto body repair is considered an excellent alternative.
