Cancer Prevention & Control Consultant
This position will support the efforts of the University of Iowa Health Care Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) team.
Successful applicants must live in one of the following rural counties in Iowa: Fremont County, Page County, Taylor County, Mills County, Montgomery County, Mahaska County, Wapello County, Marion County, Keokuk County, Poweshiek County, Monroe County, Jasper County, Des Moines County, Louisa County, Henry County, Lee County, Carroll County, Crawford County, Greene County, Audobon County, Guthrie County, Sac County, Calhoun County. Applicants from other counties will not be considered for this position.
Non-Clinical Programs and Development, Presentation, and Evaluation:
Assist with community engaged activities related to cancer prevention and control efforts, across Iowa.
Assist community organizations with the implementation, adaptation, and evaluation of evidence-based interventions.
Identify cancer-related needs or interests of communities in Iowa.
Attend community wide meetings on behalf of Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Outreach & Engagement.
Attend community meetings or health fairs to understand community issues or build relationships with community members.
Attend conferences as a representative of The University of Iowa presenting on the work of the Community Outreach & Engagement team.
Training Education:
Review literature related to the fields of implementation science, community engagement, cancer prevention and control, among other public health literature as needed.
Assist in creation, coordination, and delivery of community and professional presentations, informational materials, and reports.
Contribute to technical writing of scientific papers, manuscripts, and grant applications as needed.
Present results/findings at team meetings, departmental meetings, and partner meetings.
Participate in outcome evaluation and follow-up.
Consultation Services:
Develop and maintain cooperative, positive working relationships with agencies and organizations interested in cancer prevention and control.
Connect community partners with data, tools, resources, research collaborators, and accurate information.
Connect Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center staff, researchers, and faculty to community partners.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Assist with the coordination, scheduling, and support of meetings.
Collect and report on activities and impact.
Support the dissemination of communication products, including posters, conference presentations, fact sheets, and toolkits.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field and a minimum of 1 year of professional experience in administration is preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
Previous experience building and maintaining partnerships
Ability to travel within the State of Iowa is required. Ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Zoom

Highly Desirable Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Public Health or related field
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience interviewing and/or with qualitative data collection and analysis.
Experience with identifying, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based interventions.
Previous experience in program and/or project management.
Knowledge of and experience related to health and cancer-related issues facing communities in Iowa.
Personal or professional experience with cancer, cancer control, public health, and/or health care.
Position and Application Details:
This position is eligible for remote work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
