The Department of Pathology is seeking a Clerk III to under general supervision, provides clerical support related to the client relations, services, and billing functions of the University of Iowa Diagnostic Laboratories (UIDL). Performs a variety of tasks including, but not limited to, answering phone calls; responding to voicemail and emails; management of client/accessioning errors; coordinating receipt and delivering of cases; maintaining inventory; and report dissemination. All tasks involve numerous steps and techniques that require the use of judgment and problem-solving skills while working in a fluid team environment. This position is 100% time, Monday – Friday, 0800-1700.

 

Duties to include:

 

·        Answer the telephone and respond to voicemail and email requests in a timely manner demonstrating effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.

·        Support client relations by curating client/patient databases, managing client and accessioning errors, timely releasing result reports, and creating client specific requisitions.

·        Review, receive, and deliver anatomic pathology cases.

·        Maintain laboratory supplies and fulfill collection kit requests in conjunction with UIDL technologists.

·        Demonstrate time management skills and adhere to UIHC policies and good work practices

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

·        Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post high school clerical training that is the equivalent to two years of full-time employment.

Desirable Qualifications:

·        One-two years’ experience related to customer service.

·        Any laboratory (research or clinical) or hospital experience related to patient testing and/or billing.

·        Experience or working knowledge with laboratory information systems – EPIC specifically.

·        Experience with revenue cycle management software – TELCOR specifically.

·        Experience with Excel spreadsheets.

·        Experience with Outlook and email management.

·        Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
