Position Summary 
The Specialized Care Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Associate Director in supervision, hiring, training, and compliances for Clinical Dietitian I/II. Demonstrates a high level of leadership and accountability for standards of practice. Displays an advanced level of nutritional competency rooted in evidenced-based principles. The Clinical Care/Specialized Services Supervisor collaborates with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient care. Provides clinical care necessary to meet patient care requirements.

Position Responsibilities
Leadership
•    Provide direct supervision between clinical dietitians and Associate Director

•    Provide leadership, coordination, direction, and administration to employees as needed; provides continuous feedback on performance and applies appropriate development tools to promote individual growth
•    Work closely with Human Resources to coach, develop, and use the progressive discipline process 
•    Perform comprehensive annual performance reviews for the clinical dietitians
•    Demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution
•    Manage & maintain staffing levels by approving and denying time off requests
•    Approve timecards each pay period for Payroll
•    Manage and organize staff continuing education opportunities
•    Plan and lead monthly department meetings

Strategy, Program Development and Instruction
•    Assist in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding new dietitians
•    Lead training for new hires and ongoing competencies for current dietitians
•    Develop and coordinate various programs, which may include group glasses, support groups, and other educational programs.
•    Monitor and manage unit budget, assisting with department budgeting 
•    Ensure staff competency in evidence-based practice and delivery of excellent patient care
•    Monitor Quality Assurance by completing chart note audits and/or other QA measures
•    Collaborate with Master of Clinical Nutrition Director for preceptor training and rotation scheduling
•    Responsible for staff compliance of all policies and procedures applicable to healthcare agencies to include The Joint Commission
•    Develop and coordinate various programs, which may include group classes and other educational programs
•    Provide support in building and modifying information in CBORD, a foodservice software system

Education Requirements
Master’s degree in Dietetics related field or combination of experience and education required.

Experience Requirements
•    Minimum of 3 years clinical nutrition experience 
•    Demonstrated competency of patient care across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient and outpatient settings
•    Experience working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
•    Must proficiently use Microsoft Office Suite
•    Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Registration by the Commission on Dietetics Registration
•    Licensure by the State of Iowa

Desired Qualifications
•    Advanced certifications will be considered (examples: CDCES, CNSC, etc.)
•    Management or leadership experience 
•    Experience with Epic 
•    Experience with CBORD
