Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Typically a minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.
  • Demonstrates a working level of proficiency in clinical laboratory testing by performing CLIA waived and moderately complex testing following standard operating procedures, participating in collecting and processing specimens according to test requests and performs testing on multiple source specimens, ensuring accurate identification and appropriate testing.
  • Demonstrates a working level of proficiency in laboratory equipment operations by performing basic microscopic examination of specimens, utilizing laboratory equipment and performs quality control and calibration or preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrates a working level of proficiency laboratory practice quality and assists lab manager with training and competency assessment of medical assistants working in the laboratory and assists lab manager with development of training programs and documents.
  • Demonstrates a working level of proficiency of laboratory results reporting and ensures timely and accurate result reporting.
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in a clinical or out-patient laboratory
  • Previous experience in microscopic cellular identification
  • Previous experience with Hematology Instrumentation.
  • Previous experience with data entry into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Certification as a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MT/MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
