Education Required

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or English or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 

Experience Requirements

  •  3-5 years of experience in employee and/or organizational communication. 
  • Knowledge of and ability to develop, produce and distribute news, newsletters and other communications materials targeted at the employees.
  • Excellent verbal & interpersonal communication skills.  Ability to present to large and small groups.
  • Excellent writing skills; experience writing a wide variety of materials—short news items, emails, web content, brochures, etc.
  • Proven management and team building skills; ability to provide direction, assignments, feedback, coaching and counseling to assure outcomes are achieved.
  • Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient use of technical and administrative resources, to achieve project objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in computer software applications.


 Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism or English preferred.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in employee and/or organizational communication.
  • Experience working in marketing or communications in an academic medical center or large hospital/health care system
  • Membership in the professional association related to the field of communications.  
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques for developing web-based dissemination of information.
