Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in dramatic art with a specialization in costume design and/or construction or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with pattern drafting and draping, stitching, and tailoring
  • One-year related theatre work experience
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates skills in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, particularly within the performing arts
  • Demonstrates a commitment to open communication and to the value of teamwork in problem solving
  • Current with costume technology standards and trends, including the safe handling and storage of materials/chemicals

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working on productions in an academic setting, preferably in a higher education setting
  • MFA Degree in Costume Production or Technology
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in millinery, fabric manipulation including painting and dying, pattern making- both analog and digital, stage makeup, hair and wig styling, jewelry making, and machine embroidery
  • Knowledge of the use of state-of-the-art digital machinery related to costume design and fabrication
