University Housing & Dining at the University of Iowa is seeking to hire multiple Custodian I positions to contribute to safe, clean, and healthy environments in our student residence halls.
Duties to include:
- Cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting restrooms
- Floor work including vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, and extracting
- Cleaning/sanitizing horizontal and vertical surfaces including glass, walls, ceilings, and light fixtures
- Completing student work orders including bed configurations
The shift for these positions is 7:30AM to 4:00PM, working every other weekend with rotating days off. Occasional overtime may be available to cover absences and during peak periods of operation.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
· Ability to read, write, and follow directions.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
- Experience working in a physically demanding position and moving up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Experience interacting with the customers.
- Willingness to work in environments that vary in temperature (heat/cold) as well as noise level.
- Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment.
