Qualifications - External
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to read, write and follow directions.
- One year of custodial or related experience.
Special Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Driving Record Review Standards.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Knowledge of commercial cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned, as well as equipment and supplies used to perform the position.
- Ability to move furniture and objects in preparation for cleaning; to load and unload trash receptacles; to operate and care for powered machinery safely and properly. To clean, vacuum, scrub and mop, for protracted periods of time; to work on ladders.
- Ability to move 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a variety of environments including crowded public areas and high and low-temperature areas.
- Knowledge of the safe use of chemical cleaning agents and possible hazards relating to environmental sanitation.
- Ability to lead, train and motivate employees.
- Ability to write and maintain routine records and reports such as employee attendance, supply usage, and needed repairs.
- Ability to communicate effectively and follow oral and written instructions.
- Experience performing labor-intensive work in a residence hall, apartment complex, hotel, hospital, nursing home, or similar residential facility.
- Customer service experience.
- Knowledge and the ability to learn basic computer and keyboarding skills; including the ability to access and draft email correspondence and the ability to manage electronic time accruals and personal absence requests. Previous experience highly desired.
- Experience working in a diverse work environment.
- Ability to exhibit a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
