Job Duties:
· Perform preventive dental care, including cleanings (scaling and polishing) and fluoride application.
· Take and interpret digital dental radiographs.
· Review and update patient medical/dental histories and document findings in electronic health records.
· Conduct oral health assessments and cancer screenings.
· Educate patient on oral hygiene, nutrition, tobacco use, and dental procedures.
· Maintain compliance with OSHA protocols and infection control standards.
· Collaborate with dentists and assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
· Support the training and education of dental and pre-doctoral students.
· Maintain licensure, CPR certification, and stay current with professional developments.
· Demonstrate knowledge of esthetic procedures such as tooth whitening.
· Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervising dentist.
· Maintain effective relationships with staff, students, and patients.
College of Dentistry – Periodontics (Iowa City, IA)
Salary: $63,334.40 - $79,168* to commensurate (SEIU Pay Grade: 06)
*Advanced starting rate may be possible based on qualifications/experience.
Schedule: 32-40 hours/week to be determined, Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
May require occasional overtime.
Work Location: On-Site
REQUIRES:
· Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Dental Hygiene or equivalent is required.
· License to practice dental hygiene in the State of Iowa is required.
· Local anesthesia permit issued by the State of Iowa is required.
· Hygienists administering nitrous oxide must meet educational criteria in accordance with the rules of the Iowa Board of Dental Examiners.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
DESIRABLE:
· Proficient working with electronic health records.
