Department of Neurosurgery - Physician Assistant (Pediatric Division)

Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners, which include graduation from an accredited PA educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.

Reasonable (1-3 years) experience in area of clinical practice, previous experience in specified hospital specialty area, or demonstrated knowledge of area of clinical practice

Demonstrated experience providing clinical care to pediatric patients

Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment

Demonstrated experience in orientation and training of new staff
-
Evidence of ability to function with a high degree of independence while actively collaborating with multidisciplinary health care members providing care for highly complex patients

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications

Experience exercising autonomy in medical decision-making and services provided

Experience providing guidance, education, and support for patients both in the PICU, NICU, or SNICU.

Procedures and diagnosis experience in hydrocephalus, craniosynostosis, Chiari malformations, pediatric brain tumors, spastic cerebral palsy, skeletal dysplasia, and scoliosis

Experience providing overall medical care and medical management for patients in an inpatient and outpatient setting

Ability to work well in a team environment

Knowledge of University of Iowa policies and procedures
