Qualifications
Required Education:
- Master’s degree in library/information science from an ALA-accredited program, or advanced degree in relevant discipline.
Required Qualifications:
- Two or more years professional job-related experience.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for working closely with scholars and student populations.
- Knowledge of digital methods and technologies, including experience with digital publishing platforms, text analysis, data visualization software, programming languages, and data processing and curation applications.
- Knowledge of the potential benefits and limitations of various digital platforms and tools and ability to communicate them clearly to a range of audiences.
- Ability to manage projects and balance competing priorities.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Desired Qualifications:
- Demonstrated project management skills and/or formal training in project management, workflow optimization, or continuous quality improvement.
- Experience with digital scholarship platforms such as Omeka, Scalar, or WordPress for digital exhibits and scholarly websites. Knowledge of repository software like DSpace or Fedora.
- Experience with text analysis tools (such as Voyant Tools, TEI, or NLTK in Python) and mapping software (like ArcGIS or QGIS) for spatial analysis.
- Experience providing user support in an academic environment through group instruction, individual consultations, and other modes of teaching and engagement.
- Familiarity with issues of copyright, fair use, and ethical practices in research and publishing.

The hiring salary range for this Specialist Librarian position is $58,000 - $74,000.
Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any conviction history and will be subject to a criminal background check and credential/education verification. Up to 5 professional references will be requested at a later step in the recruitment process.
This position is eligible for on-campus and/or hybrid remote work within Iowa, with the majority of work time being on campus, and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
