Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional experience (typically 12 or more years) with increasing responsibilities in institutional design and/or construction of major projects. Successful candidates will have experience in project management, leading project managers, and overall leadership for an organization.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in management and supervision.
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability and senior level planning skills with a good working knowledge of project management and sound building practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while creating, promoting, and sustaining an inclusive environment. 
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Professional Engineer or Architect registration/license within the State of Iowa, or ability to obtain registration or license within 12 months and maintain.
  • Working knowledge with health care and research on a university campus.
  • Working knowledge of facilities management and total-cost-of ownership principles.
  • Extensive experience preparing and monitoring departmental budget enterprise financial model.
  • Knowledge of educational, research and healthcare facilities management/operations principles including compliance.
