Director of Design & Construction Management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related degree and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven record of effective leadership and organizational development in large and complex organizations or institutions with multiple business enterprises or divisions. Professional experience (typically 12 or more years) with increasing responsibilities in large and/or complex organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to and create integrated and collaborative processes with a wide constituency.
- Successful candidates will have extensive experience in project management, leading project teams, and overall leadership for a unit within a complex organization. Minimum of five years’ experience in management and supervision.
- Progressive professional career with increasing responsibilities including senior level planning skills coupled with a comprehensive working knowledge of sound project management and construction practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of staff at all levels of an organization.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills in managing partnerships and complex stakeholder relationships.
- Superior interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner while creating, promoting, and sustaining an inclusive environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional Engineer or Architect registration/license within the State of Iowa, or ability to obtain registration or license within 12 months and maintain.
- Experience and working knowledge with health care and research projects on a large university campus.
- Working knowledge of facilities management and total-cost-of ownership principles.
- Extensive experience preparing managing and monitoring departmental budget enterprise financial models.
- Knowledge of educational, research and healthcare facilities management/operations principles including compliance directives.
