Qualifications

Education or Equivalency Required

  • Master’s degree in instructional technology, instructional design, educational technology, or management or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing a comparable level of expertise.

Experience Required 

  • Reasonable experience (minimum of 5 years) of operational management including extensive experience with technology, administration, and team supervision. 

Competencies Required


Demonstrates a Extensive proficiency level in:

  • Knowledge of and experience with tools and techniques for planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling large and/or complex projects, preferably in information technology.
  • Quality assurance, including related tools, techniques, and standards; Employs techniques for motivating and training personnel to meet or exceed accuracy goals.
  • Excellent written and oral skills evidenced by effective communication and the ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Team management, employing appropriate techniques to communicate, maintain team focus and energy, and utilize team talents and work styles most effectively.

Demonstrated an Extensive to Expert/Leader proficiency level in:

  • Operational functions, seeking efficiencies, evaluating relevant industry practices, maintaining awareness of multi- and cross-functional issues of the regulatory environment, and considering the interrelationships between major functions and sub-functions.
  • Influencing at all levels of an organization and gaining acceptance of ideas and suggestions from senior leaders.  An understanding of organizational culture to gain common commitment and understanding in achieving objectives.
  • The ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner and utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating emerging trends and technologies in instructional technology.
  • Understand and navigate software licensing principles and guidelines such as accessibility, security, agreements and purchasing.
  • Experience training or teaching.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas, Desire2Learn, Blackboard, Moodle, etc.
  • Experience working in a higher education technology environment.
  • Knowledge of current trends and issues in higher education instructional technology environments with diverse constituents (e.g. faculty, advisors, program directors).
  • Knowledge of MAUI (UI internal system)
  • Experience with the Campus Data Portal.
Highly desired: negotiating contracts for large-scale instructional technology software.
