Director of Operations, Iowa MADE
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in medical device development, manufacturing or operations.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills including including work with entry level engineers.
- Solid technical, communication and analytical skills with thorough understanding of medical device product development.
- Proficient with production manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., molding, CNC, forming etc.).
- Experience with quality management systems.
- Experience with leadership of manufacturing projects and teams through all phases of the product development life cycle.
- Proven ability to scale applications with an engineering team.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, technology guidance and mentorship to others throughout their domain.
- Demonstrable success and experience with optimizing a manufacturing process to reduce cost or lead time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of an organization.
- Ability to apply broad expertise or unique knowledge and professional concepts to develop resolutions to critical issues.
- Ability to manage multiple complex, high visibility or high impact projects simultaneously.
- Ability to shape and articulate a longer-term strategic view.
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with design controls, verification/validation, process validation, sterilization and other processes to verify medical device production.
- 3+ years of Project Management experience.
- Early-stage medical device development and manufacturing.
- Experience with project feasibility plans and pricing strategies.
- Working knowledge of computer programs for project management, (e g. Microsoft Project or similar).
- Experience working with Faculty and PhDs in academic environments.
- Direct entrepreneur or startup experience.
