Required Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in related field (i.e., journalism, marketing, communications, public relations, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. 

  • Three or more years' experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, constituent relations, strategic communications and/or public relations strategy/activities. 

  • Experience with building and maintaining relationships with external constituents and donors, including developing strategies and implementing best practices. 

  • Experience in interacting with the press and ability to communicate and socialize with all facets of library constituents. 

  • Experience planning and managing communication programs and activities that include design, development, production, dissemination, and budget. 

  • Experience utilizing current and emerging social networking media channels. 

  • Demonstrated understanding of the mission of a research university and the mission and functions of a large research library 

  • Ability to articulate and successfully communicate the University’s, Libraries, and your personal commitment to diversity, equity, access and inclusion in the workplace or community. 

  • Excellent writing and editing skills in English that includes 1-3 years of work experience creating a variety of written communications (newsletters, press releases, marketing announcements, internal communications, web content, etc.) that demonstrate a command of language and grammar, clarity of thought, orderliness of presentation and the ability to write for a specific audience. 

  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including experience or capacity to demonstrate positive interpersonal skills, develop and maintain collaborative working relationships and lead work groups and teams. 

  • Strong organizational skills including experience working in a position that required managing multiple projects and adhering to deadlines. 

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage people and teams. 

 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective marketing strategies and objectives. 

  • Experience with leading strategic communications in a higher education institution.  

  • Familiarity with the services and operations of an academic library.
