The University of Iowa Printing Department is seeking a highly motivated candidate to work as a Document Center Operator. This position will be hired at either the Document Center Operator I or Document Center Operator II classification based on the qualifications of the successful candidate.

 

This position is performed fully on campus.

 

Duties to Include:

Document Center Operator I

  • Performs and coordinates document center work under general supervision. Responsible for preparing and processing all duplication jobs using high-speed duplicating equipment.  Duties may involve the use of a computer terminal to enter job specifications, provide estimates and monitor production costs.

Document Center Operator II

  • Performs and coordinates document center work under general supervision. Responsible for preparing and processing all duplication jobs using digital, networked high-speed equipment. Duties involve the use of computer terminals, servers, scanners, tape and magneto-optical archiving systems, along with related software and technologies. May provide functional supervision.

 

Other Duties to Include:

  • Maintains a high level of customer service
  • Operates and maintains high-speed copiers and printers.
  • Prioritizes and schedules work and adjusts production as required to accommodate customer deadlines and maintain operational efficiency. 

About the Printing Department:

The Printing Department offers printing and mailing services and project guidance from start to finish for all university departments. It is a one-stop shop for printing needs that provides excellent customer service, easy ordering, competitive prices, and guaranteed satisfaction.

Location: Mossman Business Services Building (MBSB)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Document Center Operator I Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • One year of copier/duplicator operation experience, or
  • Equivalent training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with inventory management, prepress, bindery equipment, print management software and/or creation of job tickets.
  • Loading cargo using two-wheel carts.
  • Experience operating and maintaining large production copiers or printers and working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Knowledge of University policies/procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.

Document Center Operator II: Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Two years of experience at the Document Center Operator I level, including six months experience using computer software packages and online systems to prepare documents for digital duplication, or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
  • Possession of appropriate driver’s license as required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience operating and maintaining large production copiers or printers and working in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Experience with inventory management, prepress, bindery equipment, print management software and/or creation of job tickets.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with cost estimating.
  • Knowledge of University policies/procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.
  • Loading cargo using two-wheel carts.
