Electronics Technician I-Safety & Security

• Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in electronics and low-voltage systems.
• Knowledge of electronic components, wiring, circuits, power supplies, and related equipment.
• Knowledge of tools, meters, test equipment, and other equipment used in the electronics field and skill in their safe and appropriate use.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with electronics and low-voltage work.
• Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic and low-voltage equipment and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Ability to use logical and systematic approaches to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and established procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, vendors, students, and the public.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to organize work, prioritize service requests, and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, for documentation, inventory tracking, recordkeeping, and other departmental functions.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain tools, test equipment, and electronic equipment.
• Ability to maintain an accurate inventory of parts, supplies, equipment, and tools.
• Functional knowledge and proficiency in the use of a multimeter for electrical testing and troubleshooting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic electronics principles and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose electronic equipment or low-voltage systems.
• Ability to read and interpret basic electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to meet University requirements for operating University vehicles, if applicable.
• Ability to safely perform the physical and environmental requirements associated with electronics and low-voltage work, including working from ladders, accessing equipment in various locations, and handling tools and equipment.

·         Graduation from a two-year resident electronics trade school, or any combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and ability can be acquired.
